How to increase Instagram Story views?

My story views are terrible compared to my follower count. i have 3,800 followers but my stories only get 150-250 views

Is there a way to get more people to watch my stories? or is this view rate normal?

Story views depend heavily on how engaged your followers are overall

if you have a lot of inactive followers or people who followed you ages ago and forgot about you, your story views will be low

4-6% story view rate suggests:
- a lot of your followers are inactive
- your followers aren't on instagram much when you post stories
- your stories aren't engaging enough to make people stop and watch

you can't force inactive followers to watch your stories. but you can make better stories for the people who are active:
- use text overlay to add context (people watch stories on mute)
- keep each story slide under 10 seconds. if it's longer people skip
- end with a call to action ("reply with your thoughts" or "swipe up to see more")

also tag other accounts and locations in your stories. this expands your reach beyond just your followers

but honestly if your follower count is 3,800 but only 200 are actually active/engaged followers, that's fine. focus on those 200 and grow the engaged follower base. the vanity metric of total followers doesn't matter

150-250 views on 3,800 followers is about 4-6% which is actually pretty low. average is more like 10-15%

here's what increased my story views:
- posting 3-5 stories per day (not 20+). too many stories and people skip you
- using the question sticker, poll sticker, and quiz features. interactive stories get higher completion rates
- posting at times when your audience is most active
- showing your face and talking instead of just posting static images
- creating story series that people want to keep watching (e.g. "day in the life" over 5-6 stories)

also the first story matters a lot. if your first story is boring, people skip your whole story. make the first frame eye-catching

i went from 8% story view rate to 18% by making stories more interactive and posting less frequently but higher quality

quality over quantity applies to stories too. don't just post random stuff throughout the day. be intentional about what you share
