It wasn’t something I built on purpose. Around mid-2023, I just got tired of posting random stuff and wanted my page to actually mean something. So, I sat down one night, scrolled through my profile, and deleted all the junk that didn’t really feel like me anymore. Old posts that made me cringe, gone. Then I rewrote my bio so it actually sounded like a person, not some weird quote I copied years ago.
After that, I just started sharing more of me. Like, things I was learning, stuff that went wrong, how I felt trying to grow my channel. Nothing fancy. No big edits. Some nights, I’d post while half-asleep and wake up to a bunch of comments. Not because it was “optimized,” but because people felt it was real.
I remember one post, just me saying how tired I was but that I was proud I didn’t quit. That one blew up. It wasn’t even a good photo, but people connected to the story. That’s when I got it. Building a personal brand isn’t about perfect photos or logos, it’s about being known for something that’s truly you.
I’ve learned a few things along the way, so here’s what really helped:
- Don’t fake it. Seriously. People can tell when you’re pretending.
- Stick with your vibe — don’t copy other creators just because they’re doing well.
- Post when you have something to say, not just to “stay active.”
- Talk about the real moments — the good and the bad.
- Keep it consistent, even when no one seems to notice.
I used to chase trends too. Tried doing what everyone else was doing. But it always felt off. I remember trying to copy this popular creator’s style, and even though it looked nice, it just didn’t feel like me. I ended up deleting the video a few days later. You can’t build something real if it doesn’t come from you.
These days, I just focus on what feels right. My “brand” now is just being open, sharing small lessons, and keeping it honest. I don’t plan everything out anymore. I just share what’s real and somehow, that connects better than anything I’ve ever forced.
To be fair, it’s not easy. Some weeks, I feel like no one’s paying attention. But when you stick with it, people start to trust your voice. That’s what a real personal brand is, trust is key.
If you’re trying to build yours, don’t wait for the perfect idea or logo. Just start posting things that sound like you. It’ll evolve over time. You’ll mess up, change directions, maybe even rebrand once or twice. That’s fine. Everyone does it. What matters is that you keep showing up and keep being real.
How about you guys? Did your personal brand happen naturally, or did you plan it from the start?
