What is the 30 second rule on YouTube?

Someone mentioned the 30 second rule on YouTube but he didn't explain it. Since then I have been so curious about it. What is this?

If everyone clicks away in first 30 seconds, youtube thinks video sucks and stops promoting it.

If people watch past 30 seconds, youtube keeps showing it to more people

So your hook needs to be in the first 5-10 seconds. Don't waste time with long intros

I always check my analytics and it's true. Videos where 70%+ people watch past 30 seconds all performed way better. The videos where 40% clicked away in first 30 seconds flopped hard. Now, I put the payoff first, then do quick intro, then deliver content and it completely changed my retention
