When should I start posting consistently?

Post by Precious »

I've made about 8 videos so far over 2 months. i know consistency is important but i'm still figuring out my style and what works

Should I wait until i have my "formula" figured out before committing to consistent posting? or start posting consistently while still experimenting?

Start posting consistently NOW - don't wait for perfection

here's the harsh truth: you only find your formula through consistent posting

why waiting is a mistake:
  • you'll never feel "ready"
  • you learn faster by doing
  • algorithm rewards consistent channels
  • momentum matters more than you think
my experience:

first 3 months (inconsistent posting):
  • 8 videos total
  • constantly "perfecting" my approach
  • growth: 120 subscribers
next 3 months (consistent weekly posts):
  • 13 videos total
  • still experimenting but posting regardless
  • growth: 1,400 subscribers
the consistency itself taught me what works faster than overthinking did

how to be consistent while experimenting:
  1. pick a realistic schedule (once a week is fine)
  2. set "good enough" standards, not perfection
  3. post even if video isn't your best work
  4. analyze after every 5 videos
  5. adjust based on data, not feelings
the data you need comes FROM consistent posting:
  • which topics get views
  • which thumbnails get clicks
  • which styles get retention
  • what your audience actually wants
you can't get this data from 8 videos over 2 months

recommended timeline:
  • videos 1-20: post consistently, experiment wildly
  • videos 21-40: post consistently, narrow focus based on what worked
  • videos 41+: post consistently with proven formula
stop waiting. start posting

Figure out what works BEFORE committing to rigid schedule

i see too many creators burn out posting weekly mediocre content for 6 months straight

problems with premature consistency:
  • you lock yourself into a schedule before knowing what works
  • pressure to post kills creativity and experimentation
  • you build audience on content you might not want to keep making
  • burnout comes fast when forcing consistency
my approach:

phase 1: experimentation (first 15-20 videos)
  • post when you have something worth posting
  • try different topics, formats, styles
  • don't stress about schedule
  • focus on learning
phase 2: validation (next 10-15 videos)
  • double down on what worked
  • test if results are repeatable
  • gradually increase posting frequency
phase 3: consistency (video 30+)
  • now commit to regular schedule
  • you know what works and can sustain it
8 videos in 2 months is FINE for experimentation phase

you're learning:
  • how to film
  • how to edit
  • what topics interest you
  • what format suits your style
rushing to consistency before finding what works means consistently posting content that doesn't work

take your time. make 20 videos at whatever pace. then commit to consistency once you have a direction

quality over schedule, especially at the beginning
