Is blogging still profitable in 2025?

Post by LenaVlogs »

I keep seeing people say blogging is dead and you can't make money from it anymore because of AI content and algorithm changes

Is it still worth starting a blog in 2025 or have I missed the window? Can you actually make money blogging or is that outdated advice?

Blogging is absolutely still profitable but it's harder than it was 5-10 years ago

my blog income (started in 2023):
  • month 6: $0
  • month 12: $280/month
  • month 18: $1,200/month
  • month 24: $3,800/month (current)
how i make money:
  • google adsense: $800/month
  • affiliate marketing: $2,200/month
  • sponsored posts: $600/month
  • digital products: $200/month
yes it's harder now because:
  • more competition
  • AI content flooding search results
  • google updates are unpredictable
  • takes longer to see results
but it's still possible if:
  • you provide genuine value AI can't replicate
  • you're willing to commit for 12-24 months
  • you focus on a specific niche
  • you treat it like a business, not a hobby
The blogs that fail are the ones expecting quick money. blogging is a long game. but it can become a full-time income if you're strategic and persistent

I make money because of my blog, but not from my blog directly

the blog is my marketing engine, not my business

my income breakdown:
  • blog ads/affiliates: $400/month
  • consulting clients from blog: $4,500/month
  • online course sales: $2,200/month
  • email list monetization: $800/month
  • total: $7,900/month
the blog only directly makes $400/month. but it drives $7,500/month in other income

modern blogging strategy:
  1. use blog for SEO traffic and authority
  2. build email list from blog readers
  3. offer services or products
  4. monetize the audience, not just the pageviews
if you're trying to make money purely from adsense and affiliate links, yeah that's tough now. but using a blog as part of a business ecosystem is incredibly valuable

blogging isn't dead, but "write blog posts and hope for ad revenue" as a business model is dead

think bigger: blog + email + products/services = profitable business
