I'm ready to launch my podcast and I'm overwhelmed by hosting platform options. buzzsprout, libsyn, podbean, anchor (spotify), transistor... they all seem similar but have different prices
What hosting platform do you use and why? Is it worth paying for or should i use a free option?

Re: Best podcast hosting platform?
I use buzzsprout and it's worth every penny ($12/month for the basic plan)
why i chose buzzsprout:
- super easy to use (uploaded my first episode in 10 minutes)
- automatically distributes to all major platforms (apple, spotify, google, etc)
- built-in website for your podcast
- detailed analytics
- great customer support
- automatic optimization of audio files
i tried anchor (free) first and it was frustrating:
- limited analytics
- can't move your podcast easily if you want to switch platforms
- ads pop up randomly on your content
- feels less professional
$12/month is nothing compared to the time and headache buzzsprout saves me. i can focus on content instead of technical stuff
other good options i've heard:
- transistor ($19/month, unlimited podcasts)
- podbean ($9/month, good for beginners)
- libsyn (older platform, reliable but outdated interface)
avoid free platforms unless you're just testing the waters. if you're serious about podcasting, $12-20/month is a small investment for a professional setup

Re: Best podcast hosting platform?
I’ve used anchor (now spotify for podcasters) for 2 years and it's completely free and works great
everyone scared you away from free platforms but here's the truth:
- anchor distributes to all platforms just like paid options
- analytics are good enough for 95% of podcasters
- interface is simple and beginner friendly
- spotify gives you extra visibility since they own anchor
- switching platforms later isn't as hard as people claim
yes there are limitations:
- less advanced analytics
- fewer customization options
- occasionally ads may run on your content (you can disable this)
but when you're starting out, free is the right choice. why pay $144/year before you know if you'll stick with podcasting?
use anchor for your first 20-30 episodes. if you're still podcasting and growing after that, THEN upgrade to a paid platform
i make $400/month from my podcast that's hosted on anchor for free. the platform doesn't make or break your success, your content does
save your money for a better microphone instead of paying for hosting features you probably don't need yet
