Is it too late to start streaming in 2025?

Post by Flaky »

I've wanted to start streaming for years but kept putting it off. now i'm worried that twitch is too saturated and i missed the boat

Is it still possible to grow a streaming channel from zero in 2025 or am i too late? seems like everyone and their dog is streaming now

I'm going to be honest: it's not too late but you're fighting an uphill battle

the golden age of twitch was 2016-2020 when it was easier to grow. now there are millions of streamers and most of them get 0-3 viewers

BUT there are still opportunities:
- newer platforms like kick and youtube gaming are less saturated
- streaming niche games instead of mainstream ones
- having an existing audience from other platforms (tiktok, youtube) and bringing them to streams
- being genuinely entertaining or skilled enough to stand out

if you're just an average gamer with average personality streaming oversaturated games, yeah you probably won't make it. the bar is way higher now

but if you're willing to put in the work, find your niche, and treat it seriously, you can still build something. it'll just take longer and require more effort than it would have 5 years ago

don't stream because you think it's easy money or quick

I literally started streaming in january 2025 and i'm already at affiliate with 25 average viewers so no it's not too late

Yes, Twitch is more competitive than it was in 2018. but there are also way more people watching streams now than before. the audience has grown along with the number of streamers

what's changed is you can't just turn on your camera and play games anymore. you need:
- a clear niche or personality that stands out
- content outside of twitch (tiktok, youtube, twitter) to drive traffic
- consistent schedule and branding
- actual entertainment value beyond just gameplay

it's not too late but it's harder than it used to be. you need to treat it like building a business not just a hobby

the people who fail are the ones who stream inconsistently with no personality to 3 viewers for a month and then quit. if you commit to 6-12 months of consistent streaming while creating content on other platforms, you can absolutely still grow
