Why do my TikToks get views but no followers?

Post by SocialBee »

My videos are getting decent views (5k-20k per video) but I'm only gaining like 2-5 followers per video. my follower count is stuck around 800 and not moving

I see other people with the same view counts getting hundreds of followers per video. what am i doing wrong?

is there something specific i should be doing to convert viewers into followers?

You're probably making content that's too general or trend-based. trends get views but don't build audiences

I used to do random trending sounds and get 10k-50k views but barely any followers. once i niched down to cooking content specifically for college students, my follower conversion went way up

now i get 8k views average but gain 30-40 followers per video because i'm attracting a specific audience that wants more of what i create

people follow accounts, not individual videos. you need to give them a reason to follow beyond "that video was funny"

look at your most viewed video and think: does this represent what i want my account to be about? if not, stop chasing views with random content and start building a consistent content identity

it's better to get 3k views and 50 followers

High views but low follower conversion usually means people enjoyed that one video but don't care about your other content

ask yourself: if someone watches this video, would they want to see more from me? or is it just a one-off entertaining video?

I had this exact problem. my dance videos were getting views but nobody followed because why would they? they just saw a random dance in their feed, watched it, and moved on

what fixed it for me:
1. created a content series so people knew what to expect (i do "explaining songs poorly" every tuesday)
2. added text at the beginning saying "part 3 of X" so people check my profile for the other parts
3. ended videos with a teaser for the next one
4. made my profile clearly show what i post about

also check your profile. if someone clicks on it after watching your video, is it clear what you create? do you have a good bio? are your pinned videos your best work?

and include a subtle call to action in your videos. not "follow me" (that's cringe) but something like "i post these every week" or showing excitement about your next video

The algorithm tends to favour accounts that interact with viewers by replying to comments. Also, try to compare your content to those accounts getting hundreds of followers to understand the kind of content they post. It may be on trends or challenges. This will determine the type of video to post on TikTok.

Ensure you make use of the analytics so that you can test different video formats. Some niches do better with voiceovers than texts only. One thing that I have also tried is posting regularly at peak times. From the analytics, find out when your audience is very active.
