I can't decide whether to focus on tiktok or instagram reels. i've been trying both but honestly it's exhausting and i feel like i'm doing a bad job at both
Which platform is easier to grow on right now? i make comedy skits and relatable content
from what i can tell tiktok has better reach for new creators but instagram has better monetization options. Is that accurate?
TikTok vs Instagram Reels - which grows faster?
Re: TikTok vs Instagram Reels - which grows faster?
I’ve grown faster on tiktok but made more money on instagram, so it depends what your goal is
The tiktok algorithm is way more generous to new creators. i got to 10k followers in 2 months on tiktok. took me 8 months to get 10k on instagram
BUT instagram followers are more valuable. higher engagement rate, easier to sell products or get brand deals, and the audience tends to have more buying power
for comedy content specifically i'd say start with tiktok because the algorithm is better at pushing funny content. once you have some videos that do well on tiktok, repurpose the best ones to reels
you don't need to create unique content for both platforms. just post to tiktok first, see what performs well, then post those winners to instagram a day or two later

Re: TikTok vs Instagram Reels - which grows faster?
I’m going to disagree and say instagram reels are better if you're thinking long term
tiktok growth might be faster but the platform is less stable. accounts get shadowbanned randomly, trends change overnight, and there's always drama about the app getting banned in different countries
instagram is owned by meta so it's not going anywhere. plus instagram has way better creator tools - you can add links, sell products, run ads, and the dms are better for working with brands
I also think instagram audiences are more loyal. on tiktok people follow thousands of accounts and never see your content again. on instagram people actually check their feed and stories
for comedy skits instagram is perfect because people share reels in dms way more than they share tiktoks. that sharing is how you grow
start with instagram and be consistent there. you can always expand to tiktok later
