Straight up question. How long did it take you to reach 1000 subscribers? i'm at 340 subs after 4 months and trying to figure out if i'm on track or way behind

I see some people say they got to 1k in 2 months and others say it took them 2 years so i have no idea what's realistic. i post 2 videos per week and i'm in the cooking/recipe niche

I just want to know what I should expect so I can set realistic goals for myself. Also if you have any tips for speeding up subscriber growth i'm all ears

It took me 14 months to hit 1000 subscribers and i wanted to quit so many times during that process lol

The timeline really depends on your niche and how competitive it is. gaming and tech channels take longer on average. lifestyle and educational content tends to grow faster. Cooking is somewhere in the middle

Here's the thing though - subscriber count doesn't actually matter as much as watch time. I've seen channels with 500 subscribers getting monetized because they had insane watch hours, and channels with 3k subs that couldn't get monetized because their videos were too short

Focus on making longer content (8-12 minutes minimum) that keeps people watching. subscribers will come naturally if your content is good and you're consistent

4 months in you're still super early. most people who "make it" on youtube didn't see real growth until month 6-12. keep going

I'm also in the cooking niche and it took me 9 months to hit 1k subscribers. some of my videos would get decent views but people weren't subscribing for some reason

What finally pushed me over was making a series instead of random recipes. I did "30 minute meals for college students" and posted one every tuesday for like 2 months. people started subscribing because they knew what to expect and when to expect it

340 subs in 4 months is actually pretty decent. you're averaging about 85 new subs per month which means you'll hit 1k in about 8 more months if you keep that pace. but growth usually accelerates once you hit 500-600 subs so you might get there faster

Also cooking content is super visual so make sure your thumbnails are showing the finished dish and it looks delicious. i increased my CTR by like 40% just by improving my food photography
