I finally got monetized last month and I'm trying to figure out if my cpm is normal or terrible. youtube studio shows my cpm is around $4.50 and my rpm is like $2.80 but i have no idea if that's good or bad because nobody ever posts their real numbers
I make gaming content (mostly indie game reviews and playthroughs) and I'm getting about $28 for every 10,000 views which feels... low? but maybe that's just how it is for gaming channels
so i'm asking - what's YOUR cpm and what niche are you in? i feel like we should all just be honest about this stuff instead of being vague lol
What's everyone's real CPM? nobody ever shares actual numbers
Re: What's everyone's real CPM? nobody ever shares actual numbers
Gaming cpms are notoriously low my friend. $4.50 is actually pretty normal for that niche unfortunately
I'm in tech reviews and my cpm ranges from $12-18 depending on the time of year. December is always the highest because of holiday shopping, then it tanks in january/february
The thing about cpm is it's heavily influenced by your audience location too. If most of your viewers are from the US, Canada, UK, Australia you'll get higher cpms. if you're getting a lot of traffic from countries with lower ad rates your cpm will be lower even in the same niche
rpm is what you should actually care about btw because that's your real earnings after youtube takes their cut

Okay i'll share mine since you asked. I'm in personal finance and my cpm is usually between $22-35. some videos have hit $45+ cpm when they're about investing or credit cards because those are high value advertiser topics
BUT before you get depressed, remember that cpm isn't everything. I have 8k subscribers and make about $400/month from adsense. i know gaming channels with 50k+ subs making similar amounts just because they get way more views even with lower cpm
your $4.50 cpm is normal for gaming. If you want to increase it you could try making some gaming content that appeals to older audiences with more purchasing power, like gaming setup reviews or "gaming as an adult with a full time job" type content. that tends to attract advertisers willing to pay more
