I heard tiktok is banned in some places. Which countries banned tiktok and why?

Countries that banned tiktok completely:

• India (banned 2020) - biggest ban, 200M users lost
• Afghanistan (banned 2022)
• Pakistan (temporary bans, on/off)
• Nepal (banned 2023)

Countries with government device bans:

• United states (government devices only)
• Canada (government devices)
• United kingdom (government devices)
• Australia (government devices)
• European union (government devices)

Reasons for tiktok bans:

• National security concerns
• Data privacy issues
• Chinese government access to user data
• Content moderation problems

India's Tiktok ban was biggest impact. creators lost entire income overnight

My country keep threatening a full ban but hasn't done it yet. just government device restrictions

If you're building business on tiktok, have backup plan. platform could get banned anytime
