I heard someone mention the "golden triangle" in SEO. What is this referring to?

The golden triangle refers to where people look on google search results
Eye tracking studies show:
- People look at top left first (position #1)
- Eyes move in F-pattern down the page
- Top 3 results get 75% of clicks
- Results below fold get almost nothing
Why it matters:
- Ranking #1 vs #5 is huge difference in traffic
- Even ranking on page 1 isn't enough if you're position 8-10
- Title and meta description need to grab attention
How to win the golden triangle:
- Target keywords you can actually rank top 3 for
- Write titles that stand out from competitors
- Get featured snippets when possible
- Optimize for click through rate
Basically: top 3 rankings or bust. Page 2 might as well not exist

Golden triangle is less relevant now with all the changes to search results
Now you've got:
- Ads at top
- Featured snippets
- People also ask boxes
- Knowledge panels
- Video results
- Image packs
Sometimes organic result #1 is halfway down the page
Focus on getting featured snippets and appearing in "people also ask" sections
Those get way more visibility than traditional #1 ranking now
SEO is changing. I can't just think about 10 blue links anymore.
