I've been posting at random times and my tweets barely get any engagement. is there an optimal time to post on twitter for better reach?

i'm in EST timezone if that matters

Hot take: posting time matters way less on twitter than content quality

i've had tweets blow up at 3am and tweets flop at "optimal" times. twitter's algorithm doesn't work like instagram where timing is crucial

what actually matters:
- how quickly you get initial engagement (first 30 minutes)
- whether people retweet or just like
- if people quote tweet with their own commentary

if your tweet is good and gets quick engagement, twitter will keep showing it to more people for hours or even days. the posting time becomes irrelevant

my strategy: post when i know i'll be around to engage with replies. if you post and disappear, even at the "perfect" time, it'll flop. if you post at a "bad" time but reply to everyone quickly, it'll perform better

focus on writing better tweets and engaging authentically. that'll have 10x more impact than timing optimization

I tracked my posting times for 3 months and here's what i found:

best engagement times (EST):
- weekdays: 8-10am, 12-1pm, 5-7pm
- weekends: 10am-12pm

worst times:
- late night (after 10pm)
- weekend evenings
- monday mornings before 9am

the 8-10am slot consistently performed best for me. people are checking twitter during their commute or first thing at work

BUT this varies by your specific audience. if your followers are mostly in different time zones or have different schedules, these times won't work

twitter analytics shows you when your followers are online. check that first before following generic advice

also i found that tweeting 3-5 times per day at different times works better than posting once per day at the "perfect" time. more tweets = more chances to be seen
