I just created a twitter account and i literally have 0 followers. i've been tweeting for a week and getting like 5-10 impressions per tweet which is basically nothing
How do you even get started on twitter when nobody sees your content? feels impossible to break through the noise
I'm trying to build an audience in the productivity/personal development space. any tips for growing from absolute zero?

Threads are the fastest way to grow on twitter when you're starting from zero
i gained my first 500 followers almost entirely from threads. here's why they work:
- they provide enough value that people bookmark them
- they're easy to retweet
- if they get traction, twitter shows them to way more people
- they position you as an expert
my thread template that works:
1. hook tweet with a number ("7 productivity hacks that actually work:")
2. one tip per tweet (keeps it digestible)
3. final tweet: "if you found this helpful, follow me for more [your niche] content"
post threads on tuesday-thursday mornings (8-10am) for best engagement
also engage with people who comment on your threads. if someone retweets you, reply and thank them. those interactions help the algorithm push your thread further
don't expect overnight success though. my first 5 threads got like 20 likes each. my 6th thread got 500 likes and 50 followers. you need to keep posting consistently

I went from 0 to 2,500 followers in 4 months so it's definitely possible. here's exactly what i did:
first two weeks: engage ONLY, don't even worry about posting
- replied to bigger accounts (5k-50k followers) with thoughtful comments
- quote tweeted interesting takes with my own perspective
- joined twitter spaces in my niche and participated
this got me my first 100 followers without posting a single original tweet. people checked out my profile from my replies and followed
then i started posting:
- one thread per week (5-10 tweets breaking down a concept)
- 2-3 standalone tweets per day with quick tips or observations
- replied to at least 10 people per day
The key is twitter rewards engagement more than any other platform. you can't just post and disappear. you need to be in the conversation
also avoid:
- following way more people than follow you (looks desperate)
- using too many hashtags (1-2 max)
- posting motivational quotes with stock photos (overdone)
focus on providing value through replies and original insights. growth will follow
