Threads by instagram has been out for a while now and i'm wondering if it's worth using to grow my main instagram account

Has anyone successfully grown their instagram by being active on threads? or is it just another platform that takes time away from your main content?

I tried using threads for 2 months and honestly it felt like a waste of time

The reach is terrible compared to the effort. i'd spend time crafting posts that got 20-30 likes and maybe 2 comments. that same effort on instagram reels would get 100x the reach

also threads doesn't have an algorithm that promotes content well. it's mostly chronological so unless you post constantly you get buried immediately

the only people i see benefiting from threads are:
- people who already had large twitter audiences and migrated over
- extremely consistent posters who thread multiple times per day
- people in very active niche communities

For most creators trying to grow, that time is better spent on instagram reels, tiktok, or youtube. threads is not a growth channel, it's a community maintenance tool at best

maybe it'll get better in the future but right now i don't think it's worth the time investment for most people

I’ve been active on threads since it launched and it's helped my instagram grow but not directly

Threads is more like twitter than instagram. it's text-based and conversational. but being active there has helped me:
- network with other creators in my niche
- stay top of mind with my audience
- share quick updates and thoughts without making a full instagram post
- drive some traffic back to my instagram through my profile link

I've gained maybe 200 instagram followers directly from threads but the real value is the community building. people who interact with me on threads are way more engaged when they follow me on instagram

It takes like 10 minutes a day. i post 2-3 threads per day, reply to people in my niche, and that's it. not a huge time investment

if you're already maxed out on time, skip threads. but if you have 10-15 min per day to spare it's worth using
