How to do SEO for YouTube?

Everyone talks about youtube seo but nobody actually explains HOW to do it. What's the actual process?

Here is my exact process:

Before making video:

1. Find keyword people actually search
2. Type topic into youtube search bar
3. Look at autocomplete suggestions
4. Pick one with decent search volume but not too competitive

While making video:

1. Say the keyword in first 30 seconds
2. Say it 2-3 more times naturally throughout
3. Youtube transcribes everything and uses it for ranking

When uploading:

1. Put keyword in title (beginning if possible)
2. Write description with keyword in first sentence
3. Add 5-8 tags including keyword variations
4. Add chapters with keyword in chapter titles
5. Choose category

Example:
keyword: "How to edit videos on phone"

• title: "How to Edit Videos on Phone (Complete Beginner Guide)"
• first line of description: "Learn how to edit videos on phone using free apps..."
• tags: video editing, phone editing, mobile video editing, edit videos on iphone

This gets me ranked for most of my target keywords

Go to youtube and type "how to [your topic]"
look at all the suggestions that pop up
make videos answering those exact questions
use the question as your title

That's literally it
