Do I need to release episodes on a schedule?

I see some podcasts release weekly on the same day, others release sporadically whenever episodes are ready. does having a consistent release schedule actually matter for growth?

i'm debating between weekly releases vs just publishing whenever i finish an episode.

- weekly release on wednesdays (next 6 months): steady predictable growth

that said, pick a schedule you can ACTUALLY maintain:
- once a week is great if you can sustain it
- every other week is fine too
- even once a month is better than random

if you can maintain quality while releasing weekly, do it. but don't sacrifice quality just to hit an arbitrary schedule

i'd rather my audience wait 2 weeks for a great episode than get a mediocre episode every week just because "it's tuesday"
