I've heard everything from "10 videos" to "100 videos" before the youtube algorithm starts recommending your content. What's the real answer?
I'm at 18 videos right now and I'm still not getting recommended at all. basically all my views come from search and my subscribers. i'm trying to figure out if i just need to keep posting more videos or if there's something else i should be doing
Does the algorithm just magically kick in at a certain point or what?
How many videos before YouTube algorithm picks up your channel?
Re: How many videos before YouTube algorithm picks up your channel?
My channel got picked up by the algorithm at video 67. before that i was getting 100-200 views per video consistently but not really growing
then one video just randomly took off (got 80k views) and after that youtube started recommending my other videos more too. now even my old videos are getting views from browse features
The frustrating part is I don't think video 67 was any better than my previous videos. it was just the right topic at the right time i guess. or maybe youtube finally had enough data about my audience
my advice is to focus on making every video as good as possible and posting consistently. the algorithm will pick you up eventually if your content is good. but 18 videos is still really early, you probably need at least 50 before you can expect algorithm traffic
also make sure you're actually creating content people want to watch, not just content you want to make. there's a difference

Re: How many videos before YouTube algorithm picks up your channel?
There's no magic number but most people start seeing algorithm recommendations around video 30-50 if their content is performing well
The algorithm needs data to figure out who to recommend your videos to. that means it needs to see:
- what types of people click on your videos
- how long they watch
- what other channels your viewers watch
- what videos they watch after yours
with only 18 videos you probably don't have enough data yet for youtube to confidently recommend your content to new audiences
but here's the thing - some channels get picked up by the algorithm at video 5 and some don't get picked up until video 2
